Venturepoint is an annual regional interactive forum, which brings together investors, entrepreneurial companies, industry practitioners and other interest groups, to treat with issues which impact the development of business activity in the region. The event provides a window to new and emerging business opportunities across the region.

Venturepoint seeks to increase the flow of capital to businesses to strengthen the region's competitive capacity and is a platform for entrepreneurs and business entities to attract financing and business advisory support. The event offers entrepreneurs and business owners, an unparalleled opportunity, to network and learn from the experiences of both regional and international presenters.

Venturepoint:

  • Provides entrepreneurs in small and medium enterprises in Caricom states, with increased access to debt or equity financing
  • Offers financiers regional investment opportunities, through the entrepreneurial showcase
  • Instills a greater understanding of various financing mechanisms, availability and finding the optimal financing mix
  • Encourages the creation of synergies among the various stakeholders of the regional developmental process
  • Fosters the creation of a culture of entrepreneurship within the Caribbean community

These range from routine presentations at schools and other educational institutions, to an annual essay competition.

In 2000, THE VCIP hosted its first National Essay Competition. This competition, an integral part of the VCIP’s Schools Awareness initiative, aimed to achieve the VCIP’s objective of educating the nation’s youth about the concept of venture capital financing, and increasing the overall awareness about the venture capital industry. In 2001, this competition was expanded to include participants from the English speaking Caribbean. In keeping with a growing demand for a more practical application of business skills, the upcoming competition will take the form of a business plan competition.

This includes presentations at schools, tertiary institutions, chambers of commerce and public consultations on private equity financing.
